ZeroLag Communications, a Magento Platinum Hosting Partner, recently delivered a presentation on optimizing Magento e-commerce sites for increased sales and customer satisfaction at Magento’s annual worldwide user conference, Imagine 2014 in Las Vegas.
The presentation focused on proven techniques for improving the performance of Magento e-commerce sites, as measured in page loading speed. Numerous studies have indicated that slow-loading web pages are linked to reduced customer conversion rates, so web site performance is an important consideration for online merchants looking to maximize the return on their investment in e-commerce.
Leading e-commerce platform Magento is known to be resource-intensive and presents a challenging load for web servers. ZeroLag has won respect and recognition for its expertise with the Magento platform, in part due to the company’s track record hosting more than 400 Magento-powered e-commerce web sites.
“Many of our best clients are merchants who originally started out with other hosting companies, but then came to us when they ran into problems the other guys couldn’t or wouldn’t solve,” said Doug Goldberg, ZeroLag VP of Magento Solutions. “Our engineering team is the best in the business, and hasn’t come across a Magento-related challenge yet that they couldn’t solve.”
“Many of our best clients are merchants who originally started out with other hosting companies, but then came to us when they ran into problems the other guys couldn’t or wouldn’t solve.”
ZeroLag’s reputation led to the opportunity to present at Imagine 2014, Magento’s annual worldwide conference attended by approximately 2000 Magento end-users, developers, and technology vendors. ZeroLag’s presentation discussed the techniques the company has developed for optimizing the speed and stability of Magento-powered e-commerce sites.
The ZeroLag team also presented the results of detailed performance testing it recently conducted on both a baseline Magento installation, as well as benchmarking production Magento sites against the baseline to gain a better understanding of real-world performance. The results of these tests were somewhat counter-intuitive, and illustrated the importance of correctly designing the hosting environment for the specific business needs of the merchant.
“Our performance testing shows exactly why we don’t offer pre-packaged Magento hosting solutions,” explained Will Bernstein, ZeroLag EVP of Sales and Marketing. “As we discussed during our presentation, putting too many resources in the hosting environment can slow down site performance, just as having insufficient resources can result in a slow site. It’s a perfect example of why right-sizing is so important when it comes to Magento hosting,” added Bernstein.
