Outlook 2003 Spam Filtering

The following steps will allow you to create a new folder for spam messages, and have Outlook move any messages containing X-Spam-Flag: YES into that folder..

  1. Click File, then New-> Folder.




  2. Enter a name for the folder, and place it inside Mailbox. Click OK.




  3. Click Tools, then Rules and Alerts.




  4. Click New Rule.




  5. Select ‘Start from a blank rule’, and ‘Check messages when they arrive’, then click Next.




  6. Select ‘Specific words in the message header’, and click ‘specific words’ near the bottom.
    Add X-Spam-Flag: YES (one space after the colon). Click Next.




  7. Check ‘Move it to the specified folder’, and select ‘Specified’.




  8. Select the Spam folder created earlier, and click OK.




  9. The rule should look like the following screen. Click Finish.




  10. Click OK.
    All future messages with
    X-Spam-Flag: YES in the header will be automatically moved to your Spam folder for review.
