The Security Report and Analysis starts with a comprehensive network scan. You don't even need to provide us with detailed information about your network, just the IP addresses you are using (we require these so that we do not end up scanning hosts that are not on your network). From those IP addresses, we can gather a wealth of information about your network, including what Operating Systems you are running, what type of networking equipment you are using, and what versions of software you have installed on your servers. Working with this information, we are able to check your network against databases of known vulnerabilities, in order to seek out possible vulnerabilities on your network. From here on, we can perform intensive penetration testing, where we actually attempt to gain access (but not cause any damage to) your servers. If we are able to gain access, then any hacker can gain access. All of the data we collect, as well as our observations and the results of our penetration tests, are compiled into a large report which is hand-crafted by our team.
