FAQ

The follow instructions will walk you through the process of configuring Mozilla Thunderbird for use with ZeroLag's e-mail services. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

1. Open Thunderbird. Click on Tools and then Account Settings.

2. Click on Add Account in the bottom left corner.

3. Click on Email Account and then click on Next.

4. Ensure all fields on this screen are correct.
Your Name: This can be set to anything, but it is recommended that you use your full name, such as John Smith.
Email Address: This should be your ZeroLag-supplied e-mail address, in the format of user@yourdomain.com.

After reviewing the information on this screen, click Next.

5. Ensure all fields on this screen are correct.
Server Type: Should always be POP.
Incoming Server: This should always be pop.zerolag.com.
Use Global Inbox: Should be unchecked.
Outgoing Server: Your ISP (the company that connects your computer to the Internet) should provide you with an SMTP (outbound e-mail) server. You should contact your ISP and find out the name of the SMTP server and whether or not it requires authentication.

After reviewing the information on this screen, click Next.

6. Ensure that you have the correct usernames. Incoming is provided by ZeroLag, and is in the format of prefix dash user and Outgoing is provided by your ISP. If your ISP's outgoing server does not require authentication, you can leave the Outgoing field blank. Then click Next.

7. For the Account Name, it is best to use your full e-mail address. Then click Next.

8. Review your settings. They won't match what is on this page, but they should match what you entered into the fields earlier. If you see a problem, click bBack. Otherwise, click Finish.

9. In the Account Settings pane, click Outgoing Server (SMTP). If your outgoing server requires authentication, please make sure that Use Name and Password is checked. Otherwise, it can be left unchecked. Also, make sure that Use Secure Connection is set to No.

10. In the Account Settings pane, click Server Settings. Make sure that Use Secure Connection and Use Secure Authentication are both unchecked. Then click OK. You're done setting up your account.
